Description

Learn about what leadership looks like before the title.

This immersive, 6-hour workshop is designed for members who are curious about stepping into volunteer leadership and want a deeper understanding of who they arehow they show up, and how they can grow into effective, authentic leaders.

Participants will begin their leadership journey with guided self-discovery, using the DISC behavioral profile to better understand their natural communication style, motivators, strengths, and potential blind spots, and explore how awareness can improve teamwork, influence, and service as a volunteer leader.

The workshop also explores emotional intelligence (EQ) and helps participants assess their own emotional awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and relationship management. Plus, examine how EQ directly impacts decision-making, conflict resolution, and leadership presence in volunteer roles.

Building on this foundation, the program introduces the 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John Maxwell. Rather than focusing on titles, the workshop emphasizes leadership as behavior, mindset, and service.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Gain clarity about their personal leadership style and strengths.
  • Increase self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Understand how leadership qualities develop over time, not overnight.
  • Identify practical ways to contribute, grow, and prepare for future volunteer leadership opportunities.

This workshop is ideal for members who want to explore leadership in a supportive, reflective environment—whether they are just beginning to consider volunteering or preparing for future leadership roles.
